School will be out: time to go camping with your horse! Join the most fun MidCal C mounted educational activity of the summer season!

Renowned instructors Valerie Owen and Kate Little will lead four days of mounted education and instruction in dressage, show jumping, gymnastics, and cross country. Calling all D3, C, and above pony clubbers of all disciplines! Take advantage of our tracks offered:

• Dressage

• Showjumping

• Eventing

When: Wednesday 16th to Saturday 19th June  2021 Participants will arrive noon to 2 pm on Wed 6/16, ride with instructors on all four days, and depart on the afternoon of Sat 6/19.

WhereSport Equine - a small family-run equestrian facility and horse rescue in Clovis, CA, just 10 minutes from Fresno Horse Park. The footing is wonderful in the arenas.  They have a full-size dressage court and a separate jumping arena with two small cross-country fields.  They have many cross-country jumps from introductory through preliminary level, including a water complex, ditches and banks, and a keyhole!  The camping area is a lovely manicured lawn (used as a wedding venue) with beautiful gardens and an inground pool amidst this stunning oasis. All camping is dry camping, and no hook ups are available.

Who: All D3, C, or higher members of USPC.

• Minimum age is 12 years (as of 6/16/2021) - no exceptions unless cleared with C Camp Organizer before registering. Adult riders very welcome!

• If you are a well-mounted, confident, and strong D3, perhaps you have loved (the awesome, fabulous) SCCPC D Camp but are ready for a little more, and/or you are prepping for your C1 - then C Camp is for you.

• If following the Eventing track, rider and mount together must be comfortable and safe riding and jumping in the open (including trotting or cantering cross country fences).

• If you meet the age and riding level above but are newer to PC (senior members?) and perhaps not yet certified at D3 or above, please contact the organizer to discuss participation.

Non-USPC members and USPC participants from other regions are welcome depending on space. All attendees must meet eligibility requirements for age and skill-level. Please contact the organizer.

What does C Camp feel like? Not a rally, more akin to a clinic. A high standard of C-level horse management is expected, but there are no HM judges, no scores, no competition.

You get to:

  •  Camp with your best equine and PC friends. Meet new friends!
  •  Ride in the morning (except evaluation rides on Wednesday afternoon, after lunchtime arrival),
  •  After lunch, head to the inground pool on the grounds or into town for ice cream, or hang out and take a nap!
  •  Hack around the property with your PC friends after dinner.

Hang out with your fellow C Campers on the cross country course at dusk for flashlight tag or other teen-appropriate activities. Work on your training goals (or challenges). Participants will summarize their personal goals (at Wednesday evaluation ride) and review them with instructors again at the end of the clinic. If you are looking to move up a level in any discipline, C Camp is the perfect opportunity with fabulous instructors to help you progress.

Meals will be restaurant quality as MacDonnell Deli and Grill will be catering all our meals, so no need to pack anything food-wise except your very favorite snacks.

What does C Camp expect of you? Bring your best attitude and be ready to try new things, prepare to be challenged, to improve, and to have fun! Respect your instructors by showing up on time for every ride with:

  • Clean and tidy USPC C-level casual attire, including:
    • Collared or polo shirt
    •  Tidy hair (at least ponytail or braid; hairnet or tucked in helmet preferred - take a look at these hair resources)
    •  Breeches w/belt
    •  Tall boots (brown or black, or paddock boots w/same color half chaps)
  •  All mandatory required USPC safety equipment (including armband or ID bracelet, helmet for all disciplines, plus protective vest for cross country). NO ARMBAND/BRACELET, NO RIDE
  •  Mount well-groomed to C-1 standard or better (e.g. no shavings in the tail, no manure stains)
  •  Tack that is clean and meets USPC safety check standards

Chaperones: Each C Camp participant must have an adult chaperone on-site for all four days of the camp. The chaperone duty may be shared by two or more adults. For example, one parent/adult brings two riders and stays for two days, then hands off to another parent/adult for the remaining two days (with no time gap in between). Please make your chaperone duty plans extremely clear to the organizer. In a time-sensitive emergency, we need to know who is the duty chaperone at any given time. Each chaperone can take responsibility for up to four riders. Riders who are 18+ years do not need a chaperone but must provide emergency contact info.

Camp Participant Fees: USPC members (riding): All-inclusive fee of $500 payable to MidCal Region USPC - includes 4 days of instruction, stabling, camping facilities, 3 meals a day (Wednesday dinner to Saturday lunch) and a whole bunch of fun and memories! Junior and senior members are welcome.

Non-USPC members: $600.

For chaperones and any non-riding camper (whether USPC member or not): $160, which includes camping fee and food from Wednesday dinner.

IMPORTANT!

1: Bring your own lunch on arrival day, Wednesday.

2: Hay is not included in your camp fee. Please bring your own hay.
